    Ythan Challenge, Ellon, Aberdeenshire

    - Information And Details Of The Annual Race Event:


    The Meadows Sports Centre Ellon


    The race starts at The Meadows Sports Centre in Ellon and crosses over differing terrains such as foot paths, muddy tracks, a river crossing at Ythan River, steep steps, hills and areas of the Esslemont Estate and is a true challenge of strength and endurance.


    Just in case you find that too easy, there are obstacle courses to navigate and overcome along the way!


    Entrants can race as an individual or as a team of four.


    The race is limited to 300 entrants, though for the 2006 event this was raised to 400.





    Entry for Aberdeen Race For Life is now open.






    The challenge usually starts at 1100 hours and is usually on the last Sunday in June. It has been run since 2001 when there were only 70 entrants.


    There is free parking at The Meadows Sports Centre.


    For the under 16s there is a Junior Ythan Challenge to compete in.


    The 2007 Ythan Challenge


    The 2007 Ythan Challenge will take place on Sunday TBA June and entry forms need to be received by the organisers by the TBA June 2007. An entry form and more details can be found at their website www.ythanchallenge.org.uk


    The 2006 Dominion Gases Ythan Challenge


    The 2006 Ythan Challenge was sponsored by The Dominion Gases Aberdeen industrial cylinder gas specialist who supply a range of diving, welding, industrial, laboratory, test and calibration gases. Visit their website at www.dominion-gas.com

    It took place on Sunday 25 June and there were 302 entrants.

    The 2006 Ythan Challenge at Ellon will be filmed for the BBC TV Adventure Show programme.
