My new novel:

The Fence Aberdeen Zombie post apocalyptic military survival Novel Book

The Aberdeen skies are under attack from an enemy jet. It is spilling a strange yellow smoke. Minutes later, people start killing each other.
Former Royal Air Force Regiment Gunner Jason Harper witnesses this and then his wife, Pippa, telephones him, shouting that she needs him. They then get cut off. He sets straight out, unprepared for the nightmare that unfolds during his journey. Everyone seems to want to kill him.
Along the way, he pairs up with fellow survivor Imogen. But she enjoys killing the living dead far too much. Will she kill Jason in her blood thirst? Or will she hinder his journey through this zombie filled dystopian landscape to find his pregnant wife?
The Fence is the first in this series of post-apocalyptic military survival thrillers from the torturous mind of local horror and science fiction novel writer C.G. Buswell.

Kids under four years of age can enter Sensation Dundee Science Centre for free with a paying adult. The official website sensation.org.uk has a free child voucher offer. Display Science Centre

Aboutaberdeen consider this great value because it took the aboutaberdeen.com team about two hours to tour around the Sensation Dundee Science Centre and enjoy the exhibits and interactive stands. We all certainly learnt a lot and had some exciting fun.

The first interactive exhibition changes most months and is either topical or seasonal. At the time of our visit it was Great Apes which gave us an insight into the world of apes and chimpanzees. We were able to compare the size of skulls and hands of different species of apes compared to the average human. A special video machine took a photo of our faces and morphed it into an ape. We were able to print this picture off. The children won't let me display it on the aboutaberdeen website though!

Ape World Exhibition

Regular interactive learning experiences include the sensations area that teaches you in a fun way about your sight, hearing, smells and tastes. An infrared camera in another display captures your hot spots on your body. There is a dinosaur and fossil area and live shows. For example we were shown how to make a rocket from vitamin tablets and then later shown keyhole surgery on a model.

Dinosaur Exhibition

Our favourite exhibition was the monster shout stand in the image below where we put our head into a cute looking monster's mouth and screamed for all we were worth. This stand then recorded how loud each scream was.

Do look out for the Doctor Who style Police Public Call Box that demonstrates auditory experiences through telephones. No signs of a Dalek though!

Aberdeen Lynne Golden Retriever

Have you seen my beautiful golden retriever Lynne out and about in Aberdeen? Ask her for a high-five! She's a Bravehound PTSD assistance dog, so we'll often be in shops, restaurants, and the cinema together.

We've written a book where I talk about growing up in Aberdeen and then joining the army to be a medic and nurse, and developing military Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

I also talk about losing my son to suicide and the therapy I have had at Royal Cornhill Hospital and grief support groups in Aberdeen.

The author, Damien Lewis, said of Lynne:

"A powerful account of what one dog means to one man on his road to recovery. Both heart-warming and life-affirming. Bravo Chris and Lynne. Bravo Bravehound."

One interactive display allows you to built your own robot whilst some games demonstrates various roles of robots in society. One great game is Mindball which allows two visitors to move a ball with their brains!

There are toilets on the ground floor of Sensation Dundee Science Centre including a disabled toilet and baby changing facilities.
