Sebastian Seb Rochford
Biography
Sebastian Rochford, known as Seb, is from Aberdeen and was educated at The Grammar School. He moved to Newcastle
where he graduated from the College of Music. Seb Rochford later moved to London to pursue his musical career.
Polar Bear Drummer
Seb Rochford is the Drummer and Composer of the jazz group Polar Bear. He is also the drummer for several other jazz bands such as Fulborn Taveshim, Menlo Park
and Oriele.
In 2004 Seb won the BBC Jazz award for Rising Star. In 2005 Polar Bear was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize.
Albums Of Polar Bear
Albums produced by Polar Bear include Dim Lit and Held on the Tips of Fingers, which was nominated in 2005 for the
Mercury Music Prize. Other groups and singers on the shortlist included KT Tunstall, Bloc Party, Coldplay, Kaiser
Chiefs and Maximo Park.

Seb has also worked alongside other groups and musicians such as Yoko Ono, Sean Lennon, Menlo Park, Fulborn
Teversham, Ingrid Laubrock, Paul the Girl, Tim Richards, Perico Sambeat, Antonio Ciacca, Acoustic Ladyland, Bruce
Barth and Juliet Kelly.

Sebastian Rochford returned to Aberdeen on Sunday 15 June 2008 where he headlined at The Tunnels, Carnegie Brae in Aberdeen City. Seb Rochford then performed on Saturday 21 June 08 at The Tunnels with Polar Bear.
2007 Mercury Music Prize Nominee
In July 2007 Seb Rochford was once more nominated for the Mercury Music Prize for his work with Basquiat Strings the jazz quintet. Other musicians in the Basquiat Strings include violinist Victoria Fifield and cellist Ben Davis.
