Places to stay in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, Scotland with facilities and contact telephone number, address and website details.

Peterhead is a beautiful and peaceful fishing town in the North East of Scotland. Places of interest include the RSPB Nature Reserve and Slains Castle.
Aberdeen town centre is only 40 minutes drive and other places in Aberdeenshire are within a short drive.

Peterhead is nicknamed The Bloo Toon which means the blue town and got its name from when you entered Peterhead town and could see rows of houses with blue tiled roofs. It was one of the UK's top fishing ports and fish remains the town's largest industry.

Each summer Peterhead hosts Scottish Week with Scottish entertainment and traditional food and drink from Scotland.

Centuries ago Peterhead was famous for the medicinal properties of its water and became a much visited Spa Town. In 1592 a stream called St Peter's Well was said to have healing powers and in 1636 Sir Andrew Moir wrote about the virtues of the mineral water of Peterhead at the Wynd (Wine) Well. In 1824 the Mineral Well at Gadle Braes was built. The remains still exists of the Well. People would come from throughout Scotland and Britain to partake of the Peterhead waters.
