Pavarotti's Aberdeen Italian Restaurant

Conveniently situated just off Union Street and near His Majesty's Theatre, Pavarotti's is a great restaurant or weary shoppers to relax during lunchtime, or for a quick, but tasty business lunch. It is also an affordable dinner treat set in luxurious surroundings with friendly staff. The pre theatre menu is ideally suited for those who visit HMT Aberdeen for an evening show and performance.

The waiters and waitresses always give you a warm welcome as you enter Pavarotti's. It's a delight to hear their Italian accents tinged with a hint of Aberdonian dialect. The entrance has disabled access and the tables are spaciously set out and the restaurant area is on one level.

My new novel:

The Fence Aberdeen Zombie post apocalyptic military survival Novel Book

The Aberdeen skies are under attack from an enemy jet. It is spilling a strange yellow smoke. Minutes later, people start killing each other.
Former Royal Air Force Regiment Gunner Jason Harper witnesses this and then his wife, Pippa, telephones him, shouting that she needs him. They then get cut off. He sets straight out, unprepared for the nightmare that unfolds during his journey. Everyone seems to want to kill him.
Along the way, he pairs up with fellow survivor Imogen. But she enjoys killing the living dead far too much. Will she kill Jason in her blood thirst? Or will she hinder his journey through this zombie filled dystopian landscape to find his pregnant wife?
The Fence is the first in this series of post-apocalyptic military survival thrillers from the torturous mind of local horror and science fiction novel writer C.G. Buswell.

Though set on the busy Union Terrace street Pavarotti's is well sound proofed and makes an intimate setting. The music is quite and relaxing and is usually a mix of romantic classics.

Pavarotti's Menu

Pavarotti's Starters

The menu at Pavarotti's is traditional Italian food at its very best. There is no pizza on the menu. Instead there is a wide range of seafood and pasta dishes. For starters we enjoyed scallops on ciabatti toast with fresh asparagus tips. There is a range of soups and other starters such as fresh mussels in garlic sauce. On another occasion we enjoyed a Funghi Rucola which was a fresh salad with mushrooms served on garlic bread.

Pavarotti's Main Dishes

The main meals at Pavarotti's would do the Italian Tenor Pavarotti proud. Dishes are generously portioned and the sauces freshly made and lovely and moist. The pasta was lovely and formed and appeared homemade. Ingredients were fresh and the meat was tender to the taste - a real joy to eat in these relaxed surroundings. We love asparagus so opted for an asparagus and chicken tagliatelle and capesante with asparagus in tomato sauce. The sauce was made from real tomatoes and had a deeply rich flavour.
All the tables have their own black pepper mill grinder, so we did miss the waiter coming over to offer black pepper from a large mill! Though the gorgeous blonde Italian waitress who sprinkled on the parmesan cheese generously more than made up for this in my opinion!

Pavarotti's Puddings And Desserts

Do save room for a pudding or dessert - these are as tasty as the waitress! The profiteroles were taken to another depth of heaven by the chef - they were covered in homemade chocolate mouse. Her who must be obeyed either liked them too much or was miffed at me making eyes at the waitress because she wouldn't share them. She did share my tiramisu though which was homemade. This Italian trifle is light enough to round off a delightful meal and has some great flavours to tickle the palate. It's made from eggs, mascarpone cheese, cream, coffee and some brandy and rum and topped with shaved chocolate and cocoa powder.

Coffee and teas had a delightful aroma and the hot chocolate I enjoyed was topped with freshly whipped cream and made from rich cocoa powder.

Italian Business Lunches

For under £8 Pavarotti's have a lunch time set menu which they call a business lunch, but is available to everyone. It includes a starter such as minestrone soup, a main pasta dish such as pasta with bacon and a sweet such as cheesecake. The business lunch also includes a soft drink or a glass of wine.

Aberdeen Lynne Golden Retriever

Have you seen my beautiful golden retriever Lynne out and about in Aberdeen? Ask her for a high-five! She's a Bravehound PTSD assistance dog, so we'll often be in shops, restaurants, and the cinema together.

We've written a book where I talk about growing up in Aberdeen and then joining the army to be a medic and nurse, and developing military Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

I also talk about losing my son to suicide and the therapy I have had at Royal Cornhill Hospital and grief support groups in Aberdeen.

The author, Damien Lewis, said of Lynne:

"A powerful account of what one dog means to one man on his road to recovery. Both heart-warming and life-affirming. Bravo Chris and Lynne. Bravo Bravehound."
