Former Royal Air Force Regiment Gunner Jason Harper witnesses this and then his wife, Pippa, telephones him, shouting that she needs him. They then get cut off. He sets straight out, unprepared for the nightmare that unfolds during his journey. Everyone seems to want to kill him.
Along the way, he pairs up with fellow survivor Imogen. But she enjoys killing the living dead far too much. Will she kill Jason in her blood thirst? Or will she hinder his journey through this zombie filled dystopian landscape to find his pregnant wife?

Aberdeen Lynne Golden Retriever

Have you seen my beautiful golden retriever Lynne out and about in Aberdeen? Ask her for a high-five! She's a Bravehound PTSD assistance dog, so we'll often be in shops, restaurants, and the cinema together.

We've written a book where I talk about growing up in Aberdeen and then joining the army to be a medic and nurse, and developing military Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

I also talk about losing my son to suicide and the therapy I have had at Royal Cornhill Hospital and grief support groups in Aberdeen.

The author, Damien Lewis, said of Lynne:

"A powerful account of what one dog means to one man on his road to recovery. Both heart-warming and life-affirming. Bravo Chris and Lynne. Bravo Bravehound."

Unight Scheme

Aberdeen night clubs are working closely with Grampian Police and Aberdeen Council to help clubbers be safer. Known as the Unight scheme it is hoped that it will help make revellers nights safer by allowing night club owners and managers to share details of known drug dealers and violent drunks and troublemakers. Night clubs will be able to send photos of such people to other bars and night clubs so that they can be refused entry to other venues. The Unight scheme was launched in the Liquid night club and so far fourteen night clubs in Aberdeen City have joined the scheme. The Unight scheme started in Aberdeen in September 2009 and has been running in Edinburgh, Scotland since 2008.

Licensing Laws 2009

New licensing laws in 2009 (Licensing Scotland Act 2005) were introduced in September for pubs and nightclubs in Scotland. The licensing laws of 2009 also affected supermarkets and shops selling alcohol. These new licensing laws included restricting the sale of alcohol to the hours of 10am to 10pm in stores which are now restricted to selling alcohol in specific parts of the shop. Nightclubs require a trained first aider to be on location, regular checks on toilets to be performed, adequate door supervisors and there must be a licence holder on the premises. Nightclubs must also have written policies for the evacuation of their premises and a drugs policy. The new licensing laws introduced in September 2009 requires CCTV that has been approved by local police forces to be installed in nightclubs.

Nightclubs and pubs are no longer permitted to sell cheap alcohol in deals such as paying an extra sum such as 30 pence to upgrade from a single to a double spirit measure, two for the price of one offers, happy hours and offering free drinks in exchange for paying a one off entrance fee. Nightclubs and bars must now offer free tap water to customers requesting this drink and must price soft drinks responsibly.

Nightclub and bar staff can now ask for ID for proof of age to ensure that anyone looking aged under 25 years is above the age of 18 years. Identification acceptable are full photo card driving licence, passport or the Government approved Proof of Age Standards Scheme hologram (PASS) card.

A study from Glasgow, Scotland based Scottish Centre for Crime and Justice Research found over 33% of fighting around nightclubs involve drunk women. From this about 10% become physically injured, though typical assaults are hair pulling, kicking, slapping and punching. Many of the assaults were caused by jealousy over men. These aggressive women are nicknamed Ladettes by many in the media and their actions are often related to binge drinking. The research was not restricted to Glasgow nightclubs and bars but eight city centres throughout Scotland and was performed over a four month period. The report suggests the need for more female door staff, security staff and stewards.

Another research study, by the Scottish Beer and Pub Association, found that four pubs a week in Scotland were closing in 2009. They forecast that this would rise after the introduction of the Licensing Scotland Act 2005. For example past legislation allowed for just the police being able to object to a licence renewal: now members of the public can voice their objections.

It is thought that the Scottish Government may next introduce a minimum price per unit of alcohol across pubs and nightclubs.
