    The start of Festive Aberdeen's 'Three weekends in winter' sees Miss Commonwealth Scotland, Amanda-Jane Taylor officially launch this years Trinity Centre and Union Street Road Train at noon on Saturday 3rd December, joined by Jessica Webster and friends.

    The Mall Trinity road train will on the first weekend be launched from outside the Trinity Centre at noon. The train will take passengers from outside the Mall to Rose Street and back again.

    Christmas shopping in Aberdeen will truly kick off with a festive celebration in the city centre. The Three Weekends in Winter event will see street entertainment, craft and country fair stalls and carnival rides. It will mark the first weekend of pedestrianisation when Union Street from Bridge Street to Market Street close to traffic on December 3 and 4, 10 and 11, and 17 and 18. This will help shoppers expected to pack into the city centre in the run-up to Christmas.







    Sunday will see the traditional ceremony for the switch-on of the Castlegate Christmas tree lights.

    The 1st Aberdeen Beavers will have their very own take on a Christmas tale.

    Aberdeen Country Fair on Belmont Street, from 9am to 5pm, is expected to attract thousands of shoppers.

    Marquees with crafts and other activities will be on Union Street, along with a selection of carnival rides.

    Road closures will mean bus routes will be diverted off that section of Union Street.

    Park and Ride services will run from Bridge of Don, Calder Park and Kingswells throughout the weekends - unless bus drivers carry out strike threats.
