Keith and Dufftown Heritage Railway Trains
The Keith and Dufftown Railway was opened in 2001. It is an 11 mile track which takes passengers through some of the
most stunning scenery of Aberdeenshire. Passengers are often rewarded with glimpses of Scotland's wildlife such as
deer and foxes and birds such as herons and buzzards. It takes you through the heart of Aberdeenshire's whisky trail
and you can see distilleries such as the Chivas Brothers Strathisla Distillery, Glenfiddich Distillery and the
Strathmill Distillery. Passengers can also see stunning views of Drummuir Castle and a rare view of the Glenfiddich
Viaduct.
The railway, the trains and the cafe are all run and maintained by a team of volunteers.
The train is called The Spirit of Speyside, a 1959 diesel multiple unit that can carry 117 seated passengers. It takes
passengers to and from Keith, Drummuir and Dufftown.
At Dufftown there is a converted electrification stores vehicle which has been elegantly turned into a Cafeteria Car
which sells a range of refreshing drinks and snacks.
