James Jim Naughtie
Biography of Radio Presenter James Naughtie
Aberdonian James Naughtie's distinctive burr suits Radio broadcasting well and his distinctive voice can be heard most
days on the Today Programme news broadcasts on BBC Radio 4.
James is often called Jim.
He was born in Milltown of Rothiemay in 1952 and educated at Keith Grammar School.
His University education was at Aberdeen University and also the Syracuse University, New York.

where he talks about the many fresh berries, Scotch broth, mince and tatties and his favourite buttermilk fruit scones.
The Career Of James Naughtie
James Naughtie then began work for the Aberdeen Press and Journal (The P&J) in 1975.
In 1977 he started work for The Scotsman newspaper at their London office, later becoming their chief political
correspondent.
From there he moved to The Washington Post in 1981
In 1984 James moved to The Guardian and became their chief political correspondent in 1985.
The Radio Programmes Of James Naughtie
1986 saw James Naughtie move into the field of radio journalism as the presenter of The Week In Westminster.
In 1988 he joined the team at The World At One.
Since then he has presented opera programmes on the radio as well as on TV, most notably The Proms each year.
In 1991 he was voted radio personality of the year
Each month he chairs Book club for Radio 4.
In February 1994 James Naughty joined The Today programme on BBC Radio 4 and still present the programme.
In November 2006 James Naughtie was presented with a Doctor of Letters by Edinburgh University.
