There is no entrance fee for the tickets. Visitors are asked not to bring alcohol and not to take glass bottles to the event. There is a beer tent and two cafes selling a range of drinks and food. There will be a lost child meeting point at the gate by Polmuir Road. There are toilets at the park.

Activities start at noon and include bouncy castles, trade stalls and a funfair.

Transport And Parking At Free At The Dee

There will be park and ride buses from the Bridge of Don, Calder Park, Altens and Kingswells. Do remember to keep your ticket to get back on the bus.

Certain roads will be closed to allow the venue to be set up. They will close on midnight on Saturday the 3rd and remain closed until after the event. These include Riverside Drive (between the Queen Elizabeth II and King George VI bridges) and Polmuir Road (between Murray Terrace and Riverside Drive).
There will also be car parking restrictions at Murray Terrace, Riverside Drive, Polmuir Road, Great Southern Road, Abbotswell Road and King George VI Bridge.
A one way system will be in operation on Riverside Drive from the King George VI bridge to Polmuir Road.

The History Of Free At The Dee

The first Free at the Dee concert was in 2002. It is a bi-annual event to mark the start of Aberdeen's Offshore Europe Oil Week. Previous acts have included Hear'Say, Gareth Gates, Liberty X, Darius, The Sugababes and Girls Aloud. There were about 45,000 people in the audience.

The 2003 starred David Sneddon, Lisa Scott-Lee, The Longfirm, The Storm Petrels, Hue and Cry and Doctor and the Medics.

There was no gig in 2004.

The 3rd Northsound Radio Free at the Dee open air concert at Duthie Park, Aberdeen took place on the 4th September 2005. The free evening event started with top act Tyler James at 7pm. Local Aberdeenshire bands also played from about 12:45 pm. Approximately 55,000 people attended.

Other acts in the gig included Charlotte Church, Belinda Carlisle, Rachel Stevens (formerly of S-Club 7), Lee Ryan (former Blue member), El Presidente, former Busted star James Bourne, Girls Said No, 3style, Amber, Chocolate Monday, Estrella, Flo, Fleet, Love Bites, The Noise Next Door, Samantha Seth, Sandi Thom, Son of Dork, Storm Petrels, Streetside, The Billy Shears Band, Nerina Pallot and Rowetta from X Factor.

McFly were to appear, but had to pull out because they are recording a charity single with Roger Daltry, frontman of The Who.
