Duff House

Duff House Banff, Aberdeenshire is a fine example of a Scottish country stately home. It is run by Historic Scotland, Aberdeenshire Council and the National Galleries of Scotland. Visitors can enjoy viewing fine art, paintings, antique furniture and exhibitions. Duff House Banff gives talks throughout the year by leading experts.
Visitors to Duff House in Banff can enjoy walking round the three floors, viewing the art, furniture, restored rooms and paintings. There is disabled access to the rear of the building and the guides can help with the lift upon request. There is also disabled parking, plenty of free parking for all visitors, a children's playground, a gift shop and a wonderful tearoom.
The history of Duff House is explained in a large visitor's guide leaflet which forms your entry ticket. Members of Historic Scotland get free entry to Duff House and the exhibitions. There is also a room by the entrance which shows a DVD of the Duff House history presented by Kirsty Wark. This explains the origins of Duff House as early as 1735 as a Georgian Mansion family home, its use as a sanatorium, a hotel and a prisoner of war building for German sailors and the restoration of Duff House in the 1980s.

There are guides on each floor who are happy to answer questions from visitors. Photography is not permitted in Duff House but you are permitted to takes photos of the outside of Duff House.
Facilities at Duff House include toilets, a disabled toilet, baby changing room, lifts, café, and information boards for each room. The tearoom sells a wide range of drinks and snacks such as sandwiches, cakes, soups and sweets. They have a lunch meal deal which for a set price gives you a drink, soup and sandwiches or pudding. AboutAberdeen enjoyed a delicious homemade lentil soup and a huge portion of sticky toffee pudding and ice-cream which we burnt off with a stroll through the beautiful grounds of Duff House with our dog. There is free entry to the Duff House tearoom and shop.
