    Doric Entertainment


    Each year, usually in early October, a Doric Festival is held by many local communities across the North East of Scotland to celebrate the Doric dialect, songs, music, culture and traditions. Throughout Aberdeenshire there are events, exhibitions, performances, drama and workshops. The Doric Festival has been held yearly since 1994.


    Events include comedy sketches, traditional singing, fiddling, art exhibitions, historic displays, Doric storytelling, ceilidh dancing, concerts, folk singing, Doric call my bluff games, a plooin match and more.


    Fishing and fisherfolk, men and their wives is also celebrated and there are stories and songs from the local fishing industry and the North Sea.

    Speakers, performers, singers, musicians and groups who regularly entertain at The Doric Festival include Robert Lovie, Shona Donaldson, The Fochabers Fiddlers, Colin Campbell, Jock the Giant, Sheena Blackhall, Nanne Kalma, Ankie Van der Meer, Gaye Anthony, Trish Norman, Alex Green, Madeline Miller, Jim Reid, Sandy Stronach, Paul Anderson and Pam Dignan.
