The shopping centres in Aberdeen have a new display each Christmas. The best two are at the Bon Accord Centre and the
Trinity Centre. View the Bon Accord Shopping Centre Christmas Display Photos.
A large Christmas tree can be found at the Castlegate.
From the Castlegate all the way up Union Street there are Christmas lights hung between the shops.
Each December Sunday the lower half of Union Street is closed to traffic whilst festive entertainment takes

Elgin Christmas Lights
Visitors to Elgin in 2007 may be forgiven for thinking Christmas is celebrated throughout the year. In an effort to save about £4000 a year the Elgin Town Centre Benevolent Trust have kept up the Elgin Christmas Lights all year round to save the cost of taking them down in January and putting them back up in December. This controversial cost cutting scheme has been praised and also criticised by the people of Elgin. The Elgin Town Centre Benevolent Trust needs to raise approximately £30,000 a year to display the Elgin Christmas lights. This initiative saves them the fee that they have to pay to Moray Council to take down the lights.
The 2005 Christmas Lights switch on dates and times.
Peterhead Christmas Lights
It was feared that the Peterhead Christmas Lights would not be on display in 2007 after they were vandalised in 2006 only hours after going up. Fortunately cash was donated from the Common Good Fund in Peterhead so that shoppers could once more enjoy some Christmas cheer. £5000 was given from the fund by Peterhead Councillors to the Peterhead Christmas Lights fundraiser Mr Davie Roy who is head of Light the Toon.
Fundraising for the 2008 Peterhead Christmas Lights will start in January 2008
