    Reindeer Parade Crathes Castle

The annual reindeer parade with Santa at Crathes Castle in Banchory which forms part of the Aberdeenshire National Trust For Scotland 12 Days of Christmas events

This takes place on Saturday the 6 and Sunday the 7 December 2014. Santa will parade his sleigh, pulled by the Cairngorms reindeer, from the visitor centre down to Crathes Castle.

I have published a book which tells the story of an Aberdonian military nurse who returns from Afghanistan and encounters The Grey Lady Ghost of the Cambridge Military Hospital. The novel reveals her origins and takes him to a pre-war Duthie Park, modern day Cruden Bay and back to the past to the Battle of Loos in World War One where he witnesses the Gordon Highlanders in action. This is the first in the series of Grey and Scarlet Novels by me, CG Buswell, and each book will feature a well known Aberdeen ghost and Aberdeenshire area as well as modern Scottish Infantry in action. Read the first chapter for free.

There is also Christmas entertainment such as hot chestnut sellers, festive food in the restaurant, walks in the walled garden and themed entertainment like carol singing and period costumed staff in the buildings.

Children can visit Father Christmas and get close up to his reindeer.

Tickets can be purchased at the booth by the car park. Though NTS members usually get free admission there is still a charge for this day due to the additional entertainment. Included in the price is something to eat and drink in the Castle kitchen after a tour. This is usually mince pies and a non-alcoholic mulled spiced drink.
