    On the 25th January each year Aberdonians will join Scots in Scotland and the rest of the World in a celebration of the life and poems of our poet Robert Burns.     2008 Burns Night Events



    Aberdeen City Council Burns Night Event

    The Aberdeen City Council Burns night event for 2008 will take place on Saturday 26 January from 8pm until 12:30am at the Beach Ballroom in Aberdeen Beach Esplanade. Tickets to this Burns Night Ceilidh and Supper cost £14.50 and tickets can be bought at the Aberdeen BeachBallroom or by calling telephone number (01224) 655451. The Burns Night supper toastmaster will be Aberdeen comedian Doug Duthie with music by Aberdonian musicians the Bennachie Band. Tickets include a Burns meal of haggis, neeps and tatties.



    Burns Night Supper BanCar Hotel Lonmay

    The annual Burns Night Supper at the BanCar Hotel in Lonmay, Buchan near Fraserburgh takes place on January 18 2008 at 7:30pm though attendees can arrive from 7pm. Tickets to the Burns Night Supper at BanCar Hotel Lonmay cost £16 for non members and £14 for members and can be bought by telephoning (01771) 637344.

    Tam O' Shanter Puppet Show

    The Lemon Tree in Aberdeen City Centre have a super 2008 Burns Night event which is ideal for the kids in the opinion of AboutAberdeen.com. The Puppet Lab will perform the Robert Burns ballad Tam O' Shanter using their beautiful puppets. The Tam O' Shanter Puppet Show performance last an hour so will keep the attention of the most fidgety child. Tickets cost only £5 and there is a discount at The Lemon Tree for school groups so these tickets only cost £4 each. The Tam O' Shanter puppet show takes place on Saturday 26 January 2008 at 11:30 and 3pm and the doors will open thirty minutes before these performances.

    The shadow puppet theatre performance on The Lemon Tree stage with musical accompaniment and truly brings one of Burns' most favourite works to life making this an ideal opportunity to entertain and educate the children on one sitting. Watch with enjoyment during Tam O' Shanter Puppet Show as the witches give chase to Tam and his brave horse Meg. This entertaining education continues with a demonstration of the puppeting techniques and an explanation of the story of Tam O' Shanter.

    The Tam O' Shanter Puppet Show is suited for those children aged over 5 years.

    Friday 19 January 2007 - The Buchan Heritage Society Burns Supper at Bancar Hotel, near Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire. Telephone 01771 637344 for more information.

    Friday 19 January 2007 - Burns Supper in the Ballroom at Aberdeen Northern Hotel at 7pm. Cost of £20 which includes a 3 course meal and a toast dram. see www.aberdeennorthernhotel.com for more Information.

    Saturday 20 January 2007 - Burns Supper at Ardoe House South Deeside Road, Aberdeen with guest speaker Stuart Smith, a piper and the Makfolk ceilidh band. The price per person is £34 which includes a four course dinner and the entertainment.

    Saturday 20 January 2007 - Burns supper and ceilidh at 7pm at Aberdeen Squash Racquets Club, Cranford Road. This Burns night event is in aid of Dawgs the Aberdeen pet rehoming charity. Tickets cost £10 and are available from Dawgs. Telephone (01224) 208989.

    Thursday 25 January 2007 - Traditional Scottish 4 course meals with a dram will be served from 7pm at for £33.50 per person.

    Friday 26 January 2007 - Burns Ceilidh night at Pittodrie House Inverurie from 8pm. The ceilidh will take place in the Pittodrie House ballroom until 1am and there will be a fork buffet from 9:30pm. Cost is £15 per person.

    Saturday 27 January 2007 - Burns Supper at Ardoe House South Deeside Road, Aberdeen with guest speaker Brian Donald, a piper and the Ceildidh Experience ceilidh band. The price per person is £34 which includes a four course dinner and the entertainment.

    Saturday 27 January 2007 - Burns Supper at Hilton Aberdeen Treetops Hotel with a piper, traditional Scottish music from the Kilbride Ceilidh Band and a 3 course meal including haggis, neeps and tatties. Cost of a ticket to this Burns night event is £19.95 per person. Accomodation is also available.

    Saturday 27 January 2007 - Burns Night Supper and Ceilidh Dance at the Beach Ballroom, Aberdeen from 7:30 pm to 12:30 am.

    Saturday 27 January 2007 - Burns Party Night at Norwood Hall Hotel, Cults, Aberdeen at 7 for 7:30pm until 1 am. Cost of a ticket is £35 per person and includes a traditional Burns night meal and a party with Scottish music. Accomodation is also available.

    Saturday 21st January 2005 Annual Burns Supper, Ceilidh Band and Raffle by Grampian Voluntary Group and Diabetes UK Scotland at 7:30pm at the Westburn, Westburn Park, Aberdeen. Tickets are £15 and can be purchased from Aileen Burr on 01224 310915 or Brian Fowler on 01224 825711. Prize donations for the raffle are welcomed.
