    Boat Festival Portsoy Banff


    Boat Festival Each year Portsoy harbour and village hosts a celebration of fishing and boating in the North East of Scotland.

    The weekend family orientated programme consists of a blend of:
    • Traditional Boats - over 100 with some dating back to the year 1895

    2008 Portsoy Boat Festival


    The 2008 Portsoy Boat Festival marks the 15th anniversary of the popular event and takes place from the 20 to the 22 June. A renovated traditional salmon bothy will be officially opened by Alex Salmond the First Minister. The listed building was built in 1834 and used as a salmon house until 1990.

    2007 Scottish Traditional Boat Festival
    The 2007 Scottish Traditional Boat Festival at Portsoy will take place on the 30 June and the 1st July 2007 and will have a member of the Royal Family as a special guest, Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex. Details to follow.



    2006 Scottish Traditional Boat Festival

    The 2006 Scottish Traditional Boat Festival took place on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 July with a ticket event concert on Friday 7 July. The theme for 2006 was North Sea Neighbours and tied in with the Skude Festival in Western Norway. It included performance by Norwegian sea shanty group Slogmaakane. Scottish musical performances include ceilidh acts Laverock and the McCalmans. Local fiddler Paul Anderson also provided entertaining at the Portsoy harbour stage during the weekend.



    In November 2006 The Portsoy Scottish Traditional Boat Festival won top prize in the 2006 Northern Lights Tourism Awards for the Aberdeenshire Tourism section.
