Baker Hughes Aberdeen 10k Run Race
Up to 4000 runners take part in the annual Baker Hughes City of Aberdeen 10 kilometre race (6.2 miles). It starts and finishes
at the Aberdeen Beach.
The run is open to all runners including amateurs and elite club athletes.
Families can take part in the Banks O' Dee family fun run at 10:10am which is open to all ages. A wheelchair
race starts at 9:55am at the Banks O' Dee.
Date and Times Of The Baker Hughes Race
The Baker Hughes race is usually held on the last Sunday in May and starts at 10am.
The date of the 2011 Baker Hughes Aberdeen 10k race will be announced soon.
How To Apply To The Baker Hughes Race
Entry forms are available from Council outlets. An entry form can also be obtained at sports facilities and
sporting shops throughout Grampian. The Baker Hughes road race is limited to 3000 - 4000 entrants. Entrants to the fun run can also enter on the day.

Road Closures Aberdeen
There are generally several road closures in Aberdeen during the lead up and run down of the Baker Hughes Aberdeen 10k Run Race. These generally include the Beach Esplanade, Beach Boulevard, Links Road, Accommodation Road, Urquhart Road, Wellington Street, St Clement Street, Miller Street, Virginia Street, Golf Road, Park Road and School Road.
At times only part roads will close. Traffic Marshalls and signs are usually in place to help direct drivers but do check with the organisers and the local newspapers such as the Evening Express and Press and Journal and radio stations such as Northsound for up to date info.

The first Baker Hughes City of Aberdeen race was in 1986.
Many teams take part in the Baker Hughes Aberdeen 10k Run Race which include army cadets, the police and the territorial army.

Aberdeen Baker Hughes 10K 2010 Winners
The winner of the Baker Hughes 10K road race Aberdeen was Ben Hukins of Aberdden’s AAC with a time of 32 minutes and 1 second. In second place was Juan Mareque whose timing was 32 mins and 48 secs. The first woman to cross the finish line was Lyn Wilson with a time of 35 minutes and 7 seconds. This was her fourth win in the Baker Hughes 10K race in five years and this was her best time.
There were 3044 entrants in the 2010 Baker Hughes road race.

Aberdeen Baker Hughes 10K 2009 Results
Aberdeen Baker Hughes 10K 2009 results for men was Juan Mareque with a time of 32 minutes and 17 seconds. Aberdeen Baker Hughes 10K results for women was Lyn Wilson with a time of 35 minutes and 11 seconds. Second and third place went to Ben Hukins and Mark Haskett. The winner of the fun run was Lewis Carnegie.
There were 2537 runners, many of whom were in fancy dress and raising money for charities, in the City of Aberdeen Baker Hughes 10K and Fun Run events.
2008 Baker Hughes 10K
The 2008 Baker Hughes 10K took place on a sunny 25 May 2008. The winner was Mike Carroll of Perth Road Runners who also won last year. His time was 32 minutes and 46
seconds. The winner of the Baker Hughes 10K women's race was Fiona Thompson, an Aberdeen University student with a time of 38 minutes and 9 seconds. There was over 2500 entrants.
2007 Baker Hughes 10K
The 2007 Baker Hughes 10k and fun run took place on the 27 May. The 10k road race started at 9:30am at Aberdeen Beach. The fun run started at 9:40am. The winner of the 2007 City of Aberdeen Baker Hughes 10k road race was Mike Carroll from Perth, Scotland, with a time of 31 minutes and 55 seconds. A remarkable time given the wet and windy weather. Just one month previously he was 20th to finish the London marathon and the first Scot to pass the finishing line.
There were 2695 runners. Juan Mareque came third with a time of 32 minutes and 4 seconds whilst second place went to Simon Pride of Forres Harriers running club.
The first woman to finish the 2007 City of Aberdeen Baker Hughes 10k road race was Lyn Wilson from Aberdeen. She was in position 22 with a time of 35 minutes and 53 seconds.
The men's wheelchair winner was Kenny Herriot from Aberdeen with a time of 29 minutes and 5 seconds. The women's prize was won by Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson with a time of 38 minutes and 41 seconds.
The first Aberdonian to cross the finish line was Barney Phillips of Aberdeen AAC with a time of 33 minutes and 2 seconds.
The first veteran to finish the 2007 City of Aberdeen Baker Hughes 10k road race was Frankie Barton from Keith. His time was 33 minutes and 35 seconds.
2006 Baker Hughes Aberdeen 10k Run Race
The 2006 Baker Hughes Aberdeen 10k Run Race was held on Sunday 28 May 2006. There were 2963 runners. The winner in
the male event was 19 year old Darren Shinnie with a time of 31 minutes and 50 seconds. He is the youngest racer
to ever win the Baker Hughes event.
The first female to pass the winning post was Aberdeen lass Lyn Wilson (race number 2935) to take the women's
title with a time of 35 minutes and 17 seconds. This was a record setting time and beat the last record which was set
in 1995 by Aberdonian Elizabeth Riley.
The wheelchair race winner was Kenny Herriot (race number 7) with a time of 25 minutes and 9 seconds.
2005 Baker Hughes Aberdeen 10k Run Race
Frankie Barton won the 2005 event. He wore shirt number 157 and competed with a time of 31 minutes and 54 seconds.
The first woman to finish the event was Jane Barker with a time of 37 minutes and 39 seconds. She wore shirt
number 388. Jane Baker also won in 2004 and 2003.
