    Aberdeen Festivals

The many annual celebrations shows and festivals held in Aberdeen throughout the year with programme listing and events schedule

We hosts many annual festivals which attracts people from Aberdeenshire, Grampian and the North East of Scotland. Some of them attract worldwide audiences, such as Word and the Stonehaven Fireballs held each New Year. Scottish Week is still proudly held in Peterhead - the only town in Scotland to still hold this which is dedicated to the food, drink, crafts and produce of Scotland.

Chef Playing Fiddle By River Dee

Others like the Taste of Grampian, Banchory Beer Festival, Inverurie Beer Festival and Peterhead Fish Fest celebrate our range of food and drink. Uniquely Food and Fiddle combines our local food, drink and music.

There are many musical festivals held throughout the year across Aberdeenshire like Stonehaven Folk Festival. Some are held in historic buildings such as the Deveron Music Festival at Duff House, Banff. Duff House and combine beauty with first class music. Others take place in our picturesque villages such as the Braemar Creative Arts Festival in Royal Deeside.

I have published a book which tells the story of an Aberdonian military nurse who returns from Afghanistan and encounters The Grey Lady Ghost of the Cambridge Military Hospital. The novel reveals her origins and takes him to a pre-war Duthie Park, modern day Cruden Bay and back to the past to the Battle of Loos in World War One where he witnesses the Gordon Highlanders in action. This is the first in the series of Grey and Scarlet Novels by me, CG Buswell, and each book will feature a well known Aberdeen ghost and Aberdeenshire area as well as modern Scottish Infantry in action. Read the first chapter for free.

New to the Aberdeen festivals page is the Northern Lights Music which is held at Seaton Park. This has over 50 musical acts and the first concert features acts such as Madness and Paloma Faith.

The Granite Festival was created in May 2011 to celebrate the craftsmanship of our local stone, the quarries and the fantastic buildings we have throughout the city. Events include free talks, walks and concerts.
