Information about the Aberdeen Blooms festival event held at the Hazlehead Park

In 2007 Aberdeen City celebrated its continual winning success in national horticultural competitions such as Britain in Bloom by hosting the Aberdeen Blooms family festival event at Hazlehead Park. The first Aberdeen Blooms event took place on Saturday 25 August and Sunday 26 August 2007. Aberdeen Blooms was officially opened by Chris Collins who is the celebrity gardener from the TV programme Blue Peter on BBC1 and heads the Grow Your Own campaign on UKTV. Details of this year's Aberdeen Blooms is further below.

Royal Horticultural Society of Aberdeen Flower Show

The annual Royal Horticultural Society of Aberdeen Flower Show had traditionally taken place at the Duthie Park in Aberdeen but has now moved location to Hazlehead Park to coincide with the Aberdeen Blooms 2007 event. This keeps alive a tradition that dates back to the year 1824. Exhibit categories at the Royal Horticultural Society of Aberdeen Flower Show include vegetables, flowers, wine making, baking, floral art, bonsai, cacti, crafts, photography and a competition for children.

Aberdeen Blooms is organised and run by Aberdeen Council and RHSA. This family orientated day will see a mixture of horticultural and gardening events mixed with exhibits, activities and a food hall of local Aberdeenshire and Scottish produce.

Over 10,000 visitors attended the AberdeenBlooms 2007.
