Boxing Day Swim Aberdeen
Information and photos of the Boxing Day swim at Aberdeen beach organised by the Aberdeen Lions Club to raise funds for charities
The Boxing Day Swim Aberdeen is a fun fundraising event which is organised by the Aberdeen Lions Club and is known as the Nippy Dipper. The chilly North Sea water is a great way to clear the Christmas indulgences and the Boxing Day swim a fantastic way to raise funds through sponsorship for your charity or those of the Aberdeen Lions Club. Many of the Nippy Dippers enter the freezing water of the North Sea in fancy dress to add more fun and colour to the event.
Details of the 2010 Boxing Day swim Aberdeen will be uploaded soon.
The 2009 Boxing Day swim Aberdeen took place at the Leisure Centre Beach Promenade from 10:30am on the 26 December 09.
There were over 200 swimmers taking part in this fun nippy dip and they raised over £10,000 for local charities. The Boxing Day swimmers were led by Aberdonian Commonwealth Games swimming champion David Carry, his girlfriend Keri Anne Payne, his father the jeweller Peter Carry and sister Malena.
Fancy dress costumes on this 26 December event included Wonder Woman, bride in white dress and bouquet, lots of people wearing Santa hats, black swim suits, a family of Smurfs, Superman and a Borat look alike in a skimpy mankini.
We also run the
www.findextrawork.co.uk website where there is information about earning more money from a
range of part time and full time jobs which can be done at home or out and about. Visit for more information.
The 2008 Boxing Day swim Aberdeen saw about 100 Aberdonians brave the chilly North Sea and over £6000 was raised for many local and national charities.
If you would like to take part in the Nippy Dipper or would like to sponsor the event please contact Rebecca Millar, Aberdeen Lions Club on 07540286379 or 07540286379 aberdeenlions@hotmail.co.uk
